The Turkish defense company ROKETSAN showcased the hypersonic ballistic missile TAYFUN Block 4 for the first time on its 8×8 launcher at SAHA 2026, held in Istanbul.

According to Clash Report, the missile measures approximately 10 meters in length, weighs around 7.2 tons, and reaches speeds exceeding Mach 5, placing it in the hypersonic category.

ROKETSAN confirmed that deliveries of the initial versions of TAYFUN are already underway, indicating that the program has progressed beyond development into an initial operational phase, while the Block 4 variant continues along its own development path.

The TAYFUN family represents Turkey’s most ambitious ballistic missile program, developed by ROKETSAN as part of a broader effort to build domestic strategic deterrence capabilities that do not rely on foreign suppliers or export approvals.

At the same time, the 8×8 wheeled launcher configuration seen at SAHA 2026 is also highly significant operationally. Road-mobile ballistic missiles are inherently more survivable than silo-based or fixed-position systems because they can reposition between launches, making them difficult to locate, track, and target before firing or moving.
