Vodochody, August 20, 2025 – AERO Vodochody AEROSPACE today completed the delivery of the last two L-39 Skyfox tactical and training aircraft to the state-owned LOM PRAHA, fulfilling the four-unit contract signed in 2022 six months ahead of schedule.
The aircraft were assigned to the Flight Training Center in Pardubice, where they will support the training of Czech Air Force pilots, including future F-35 Lightning II crews.

According to Aero president Viktor Sotona, the early delivery confirms the professionalism of the team and the efficiency of the production process. He also highlighted that the company has already begun negotiations for LOM PRAHA to exercise the option to purchase four more aircraft.
“The Skyfox meets the strictest NATO standards and, thanks to EMAR 21 and EMACC certifications, is seen as a benchmark platform for European pilot training,” Sotona stated.
Inspections and Tests

Before official acceptance, LOM PRAHA specialists carried out complete inspections, including flight tests, avionics verification, and performance assessments of the integrated training system.
Operational Experience
LOM PRAHA instructors had already flown the Skyfox in 2024 and highlighted its advantages over the previous generation: faster response to controls, better performance at high altitudes, a modern digital cockpit, and greater comfort under adverse conditions.
Next-Generation Platform

Designed for both basic and advanced training, the L-39 Skyfox features state-of-the-art avionics, HUD, HOTAS, multifunction displays with 3D terrain, and integration with virtual training systems that enable simulation of complex combat scenarios directly in the cockpit.
National Industry and NATO
Production involves around 600 subcontractors, 400 of which are Czech companies, strengthening the local industrial impact. If the option for four more aircraft is confirmed, the Czech Republic will expand its capacity to participate in NATO pilot training, consolidating itself as a European hub for flight training.
