Toyota has just unveiled the prototype of the GR Yaris Morizo RR, a limited-edition version of the Yaris GR, during the 2026 Tokyo Motor Show.

Despite early rumors that the Japanese automaker would reveal the new MR2 during the event, Toyota surprised fans by unveiling the special edition of the Yaris GR.

The GR Yaris Morizo RR is the creation of Akio Toyoda, whose alter ego is Morizo. He completed the design after being inspired by his participation in the 24-hour endurance race at the Nürburgring in 2025.

The limited edition features several special attributes, including Gravel Khaki gray paint and matte bronze wheels, positioned in front of yellow-painted front brake calipers.

On the exterior, the hood and rear wing are made of carbon fiber, with the latter designed to give the Yaris GR an even more race car–like appearance.

Inside, Morizo’s Yaris GR features a smaller-diameter steering wheel covered in micro-suede. According to Toyota, the car has an exclusive set of paddle shifters, and the steering wheel controls have been modified for motorsport use, including individual switches inspired by a rally car.

To break up the gray-toned environment, the interior features yellow stitching details. The dashboard also receives a set of digital gauges, which displays a custom “Morizo” drive mode that replaces the standard Gravel setting.

Under the hood, it retains the familiar 1.6-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine producing 257 hp, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its suspension also features dampers that, like the hydraulic steering system, were retuned based on Morizo’s learnings at the Nürburgring.

To further distinguish it from the standard Yaris GR, the GR Yaris Morizo RR receives a numbered plaque commemorating the car’s place in the limited production run. Speaking of limited production, Toyota will sell the vehicle only in Europe and Japan, with 100 units allocated to each market.
