Toyota recently launched a new version of the Hilux Rangga, an affordable and customizable pickup truck aimed at the Asian market. Now, a specialized company called New Armada has transformed the model into a 7-seat SUV by adding two rows of seats behind the cabin.
The rear structure was carefully designed to match Toyota’s robust and squared lines, providing a cohesive design that doesn’t look like a makeshift adaptation. The model was showcased at the Indonesia International Motor Show and will be sold through Toyota dealerships in the country.
Inside, the SUV accommodates three passengers in the middle row and two more at the rear, though the space feels a bit tight, which is understandable given the vehicle’s 5-meter length.
The engine options include gasoline or diesel, with the diesel engine being the most powerful at 148 horsepower. The drive is rear-wheel only, but enthusiasts can opt for a five-speed manual transmission, although a six-speed automatic is also available.
The SUV conversion is done by New Armada, but Toyota will officially market it through its dealerships in Indonesia. Combining an affordable price, functionality, and a family-oriented 7-seat option, the Hilux Rangga SUV will hit the market in 2025.
