The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence has received the first batch of L3Harris T4 bomb disposal robots as part of a $43.84 million contract.

In total, 50 units will be delivered to strengthen the bomb disposal teams of the Army and the Royal Navy, operating both in the UK and at bases in Cyprus and Gibraltar. The equipment is equipped with high-definition cameras, advanced controls, and a tactile feedback system, allowing for greater precision in high-risk environments.

According to the UK government, the T4 will complement the already operational T7 model, expanding the response capacity in emergency situations, especially in hard-to-reach areas. The goal is for the robots to fill an important gap in the bomb disposal forces’ operations, thereby increasing the safety of military personnel and the general public.

L3Harris stated that it has created a dedicated team in the UK to provide support throughout the lifecycle of the program. The company also highlighted that the T4 is designed to neutralize explosive threats remotely, reducing risks to operators and strengthening the country’s operational resilience in the face of potential threats.
