The Netherlands has ordered 150 JLTV DXPV armored vehicles from the American company Oshkosh Defense to modernize the Marine Corps fleet.
The DXPV version was specially developed to meet the requirements of the Dutch FLATM-PV program, aimed at mobility in difficult coastal terrains. The goal is to enhance the country’s expeditionary and amphibious capabilities with more modern, agile vehicles that are compatible with NATO standards.
The JLTV program was launched in 2006 as a replacement for the older HMMWVs, seeking increased protection and payload capacity. The JLTV family includes various models adapted for specific battlefield roles, such as heavy weapon transport and close combat.
By opting for the DXPV, the Netherlands joins other countries that have also adopted these vehicles, such as Belgium, Israel, Brazil, and Romania.
The choice of Oshkosh came after a tender involving multiple competing companies. However, in March, a controversy emerged involving the manufacturer: a Russian company allegedly supplied untested armor plates to Oshkosh for two years, raising concerns about the safety of the vehicles.
