Iconic Auctioneers, a car auction house in England, will soon put up for sale an “impeccable” example of a 1997 Ford Escort RS Cosworth.
With only 656 km on the odometer, this “extremely original” example is probably the Escort with the lowest mileage currently in existence.
It has not undergone any modifications, which significantly increases its sale value, especially considering it is a highly exclusive model: only 7,145 units were built between 1992 and 1996.

This specific example was built in December 1995, meaning it was one of the last produced. It was initially purchased by Rodney Fletcher, owner of Rod Allen Cars, in 1997.
Recording only 38 km for the journey from the shop to his garage, Fletcher drove just 566 more kilometers before putting it up for sale for about $44,000.

It remained stationary until March 2006, when a Ford car enthusiast acquired the vehicle. But before handing over the keys, Fletcher made the buyer promise to leave the car intact, without modifying or altering it in any way.
In 2007, a technical inspection revealed it had only 576 km registered. This was before it was placed in long-term dry storage, where it remained until 2023.

It will go to auction next month through Iconic Auctioneers, which expects this Escort Cosworth, possibly “the most original and lowest-mileage one in existence,” to sell for between $170,000 and $200,000.
In addition to its history, the car comes with a detailed history file, a set of original Ford books with manuals, recent recommissioning invoices, and three keys, along with documentation of its purchase history, MOT tests (required in the UK), and letters verifying its originality and mileage.
