Tesla has stopped taking orders for the cheapest Cybertruck, which cost $61,000. The only entry-level model now available is the $100,000 version.

The change comes at a time when demand for the model is being closely monitored, especially after CEO Elon Musk announced that there were 1 million reservations. Many customers are waiting for more affordable versions due to the high prices and shorter range than expected.

The Cybertruck, revealed as a prototype by Musk in 2019, initially had a projected price of $40,000 and a range of around 800 kilometers. The previously available cheaper model offered a range of 400 kilometers and a delivery estimate for 2025. Tesla now offers a dual-motor version for $99,990 and a tri-motor version for $119,990, with deliveries starting in October.

Deliveries of the Cybertruck began in November 2023, after years of delays. The first production model was completed in July 2023, four years after the production announcement. Musk mentioned that supply chain component shortages contributed to the delays, resulting in a significant stockpile of two- and three-motor trucks currently.
