Tesla has announced the end of its electric Model X and Model S vehicles, in what appears to be an Elon Musk move to shift the company’s focus toward robotics technology.
After rumors began circulating last Wednesday (28), the announcement was confirmed on Tesla’s official social media accounts this Thursday (29).
“As we transition to an autonomous future, production of the Model S and Model X will wind down next quarter. If you want to own one, now is a good time to place your order.”
These two vehicles represent the brand’s most premium models, but over the years, Tesla had been keeping them alive with only minor updates, according to Mashable.
As we shift to an autonomous future, Model S & X production will wind down next quarter.

The Model X was launched in 2015, but its appearance has remained practically the same over the past decade, and it never received the upgrade it deserved.
Instead, Tesla focused much more of its energy on the Y and 3 models, while sales of the Model X and Model S naturally began to decline.
Above all, the change emphasizes that Tesla is increasingly focused on its humanoid robot, Optimus. In fact, the company’s production line in Fremont, California, where the S and X models were previously built, will be replaced by a production line dedicated to the Optimus.
While Tesla became more recognized in the electric vehicle market, this does not seem to align with Musk’s vision for the company’s future. “The only vehicles we will manufacture will be autonomous vehicles, with the exception of the next-generation Roadster,” the entrepreneur said.
