Deputies Nicole Miron and Anthony Gross were notified on September 12 at around 2:15 PM that a silver GMC Sierra pickup truck was driving erratically in Mount Clemens on Gratiot Avenue heading south.

“I was practically hanging out the window as much as I could, and the vehicle was very close, so that made it not too difficult,” Miron told local news outlets.

They located the driver on Gratiot Avenue and activated the lights and sirens of the patrol car, but the 63-year-old driver did not stop and continued to drive at about 10 km/h.

“So when I got in, I realized the parking brake was right at the wheel. I put it in park immediately… checked how he was doing, he was dazed, not sure what was going on,” Miron added to WXYZ Detroit.

Gross was driving, and Miron rolled down the window and tried to get the driver to stop, but he appeared to be disoriented. The driver was able to brake briefly, and that’s when Miron jumped from the passenger seat into the moving truck and managed to stop the vehicle.

“Luckily, I’m very small. When I went through the window, it was a big, front-type window, I was able to slide through it. I don’t think any of my equipment touched him, so I just slid in; my small stature helped, and the fact that we were in a two-person car helped,” Miron said on Wednesday (18).

The Clinton Township Fire Department was called to treat the driver, and he was taken to the hospital. According to the channel, it appears that the driver had a medical episode that caused him to become disoriented and lose control of the vehicle.
