The Swedish government has announced a new and significant military aid package to Ukraine, valued at $1.22 billion (SEK 13.5 billion). Among the items provided, the expansion of the Stridsbåt 90 (CB90) high-speed assault boat fleet stands out, with the delivery of 16 additional units.

With this addition, Ukraine will have 38 vessels in service, with 32 from Sweden, 3 from donors, and 3 provided by the Netherlands.
In addition to the boats, Sweden will also transfer 23 naval combat modules to equip the vessels.

Other items in the aid package

The package also includes:

  • 146 trucks;
  • 1 million 12.7 mm rounds;
  • 200 AT4 anti-tank grenade launchers, including training versions;
  • 1,500 missiles for the TOW ATGM anti-tank system;
  • Individual and collective equipment for infantry soldiers;
  • Protective equipment against weapons of mass destruction.

Sweden will also allocate $58 million for the education and training of Ukrainian soldiers abroad, and $71 million for the repair and maintenance of already supplied weapons.

Defense investments

The Swedish government has also announced the allocation of $250 million for various international funds supporting Ukraine, including $178 million for the Danish model of funding the Ukrainian defense industry. Additionally, $534 million will be used for the production of weapons for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, such as artillery, drones, and missiles.

Sweden’s plans to finance the production of long-range Ukrainian weapons were initially disclosed in November, reinforcing Sweden’s commitment to strengthening Ukraine’s defense.
