Police investigate possible hate crime after swastika brick and trash left on vehicle in Kensington, Brooklyn
Authorities are searching for a woman accused of leaving a brick with a drawn swastika and the word “Nazi” written in chalk on a Tesla Cybertruck parked in a predominantly Jewish area of Brooklyn, New York. She also allegedly dumped a bag of garbage on the vehicle.
The 38-year-old owner of the car called the police after noticing the object on the bumper of his Tesla, which was parked on Ditmas Avenue near Ocean Parkway around 8 p.m. on Monday, according to official reports and images from the scene.
In addition to the brick, the car’s bumper was reportedly covered in trash, according to police accounts.
Witnesses said the perpetrator was an unidentified woman who fled the scene on a scooter. She was last seen wearing a red jacket and black pants.
Images released by Boro Park 24 News on Tuesday show police officers and members of the community security organization Shmira gathered around the vehicle.
The case is being investigated by the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force. So far, no arrests have been made.
The incident adds to a series of recent attacks on Tesla vehicles in the United States, reflecting the controversial figure of CEO Elon Musk, who currently heads the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” under the Trump administration.
On March 27, surveillance cameras caught two individuals vandalizing another Cybertruck on Monroe Street in Bed-Stuy, also in Brooklyn. One of the suspects is seen carving a swastika and the word “Nazis” into the side of the car while the accomplice looks on.
No arrests have been made in that case either, which is being treated by federal authorities as an act of domestic terrorism.
