The Australians from Supacat have transformed a Toyota Hilux double cab into a 6X6 vehicle, with a military focus that distinguishes it from other similar modifications.

While many 4×4 to 6×6 vehicle projects focus only on aesthetics, the Hilux 6X6 has been designed to tackle real challenges in combat environments. The addition of a third axle provides better weight distribution and, along with all-terrain tires, makes the vehicle more robust and versatile.

The goal of this customization is to create an MUV (medium utility vehicle) capable of operating in various terrains, including coastal and river missions, thanks to a snorkel that allows water crossing.

The additional axle also allows for a longer bed, which can accommodate military equipment, such as machine guns, and offers organizational spaces and a central corridor.

The Hilux 6X6 also features elements like LED lights on the roof, a GPS antenna, grille guard, and camouflage paint.

The engine is based on the standard 2.8 turbo diesel engine of the Hilux but with special preparations that increase its power. This setup allows the vehicle to tow up to 3 tons and reach a gross vehicle weight of 6.5 tons.

The decision to keep the original Hilux engine aims to reduce maintenance costs and make spare parts easier to obtain, making the vehicle more accessible and practical for military use.
