The Sudanese Army announced the destruction of a Chinese-made FK-2000 air defense system operated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Ed Dubeibat region, in South Kordofan.

According to the military, the equipment had been used to counter aircraft from the Sudanese Air Force, affecting air operations in the central and southern regions of the country.

According to the Sudanese command, the system was neutralized during recent fighting in the area. The FK-2000 had reportedly been employed by the RSF to challenge transport aircraft and attack drone flights, increasing the challenge faced by government forces in the conflict’s airspace.

Developed by the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation, the FK-2000 combines surface-to-air missiles and two 30 mm automatic cannons mounted on an 8×8 vehicle. The system can engage aerial targets at distances between 1.2 and 25 kilometers, using radar and optical sensors for tracking and engagement, providing short- and medium-range air defense coverage.

Military sources claim that the systems were supplied to the RSF by the United Arab Emirates, with the transfer route passing through Chad. The use of this type of advanced weaponry — including drones and imported anti-aircraft systems — highlights the growing sophistication of the Sudanese conflict and reinforces international concerns about arms proliferation in the region.
