A Volkswagen has created a peculiar pickup truck called “Pickup Truck” by combining the SUV Taigun and the sedan Virtus, a unique project developed by mechatronics students from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India.

The vehicle, which resulted from nine months of work under the “Skill India” program, features a rather long rear overhang and was designed using available components to control costs, leading to some adaptations in its construction.

The students worked under the guidance of teams from Skoda and VW in India, using existing parts from both models, while also incorporating 3D-printed pieces to ensure functionality.

To give a more rugged look, the pickup truck features a snorkel, fender flares, and a lift in suspension height, along with an LED light bar on the roof and eye-catching graphics on the body.

Despite the innovations, the rear overhang of the pickup truck has been a point of criticism, as its improvised bed does not fit well with the overall design of the vehicle.

This pickup truck is not the only interesting creation from the students, who also developed a four-door convertible the previous year, although neither project has gone into production.
