Strategic bombers capable of carrying weapons fly over the Sea of Japan

Video released by the Russian Defense Ministry shows at least two strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons, Tu-95MS, conducting a mission over the Sea of Japan.

The flight lasted approximately seven hours and was escorted by Su-35S fighters.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the aerial mission was conducted in accordance with international laws, and no country’s aerial border was violated.

Tu-95MS

The Tu-95 is a long-range strategic bomber produced by the Russian company Tupolev and also serves as a launch platform for air-to-ground missiles for strategic purposes. The Tu-95 is one of the oldest strategic bombers and has been in service with the Russian Air Force since 1956.

One of the distinctive features of the Tu-95 is its four turboprop engines with propellers and a long wingspan, giving it a unique and easily recognizable appearance. It was designed for long-duration air operations and has the capability to carry both nuclear weapons and conventional bomb loads. The Tu-95 is also equipped with self-defense systems against interceptions by enemy fighters.
