Stellantis, responsible for the Jeep, Dodge, and Ram brands, has announced the launch of the STLA AutoDrive 1.0, a semi-autonomous driving system that allows automated driving at speeds of up to 60 km/h.

The system was developed for use in dense urban areas and is activated when traffic and environmental conditions are favorable, being monitored by sensors that operate in various conditions, including at night.

Once activated, the STLA AutoDrive takes control of the vehicle, maintaining safe distances, adjusting speed, and managing steering and braking according to traffic flow. The system also offers Adaptive Cruise Control and lane centering functions in Level 2 (active hands) and Level 2+ (inactive hands, active eyes) modes. Stellantis plans to expand this technology to Level 3, allowing fully automated driving and off-road operation on selected models.

While the system is ready for global vehicle deployment and complies with safety regulations, the company emphasizes that drivers should remain alert and ready to take control when necessary.

The STLA AutoDrive is also connected to the cloud, allowing continuous updates and improvements with the goal of making the driving experience more efficient and enjoyable, as stated by Ned Curic, Director of Engineering and Technology at Stellantis.
