The Arizona Proving Grounds currently employs 69 people and has about 110 kilometers of road, serving for hot weather testing and vehicle assessments in dusty environments.
Stellantis will not be without testing facilities in North America, as the Chelsea Proving Grounds, which has been operating since 1954 and spans 1600 acres, will continue to serve the company. However, its northern location is not ideal for high-temperature testing, and Stellantis will utilize another site in Arizona, owned by Toyota, for these assessments.
