South Korea unveiled a new variant of its indigenous wheeled armored vehicle, the 8×8 “Tigon” MCV-105, at the 2025 Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX).

According to Defence Blog, the MCV-105, developed by South Korean company Hanwha Defense, features a 105 mm tank gun mounted on a turret modeled after the K2 main battle tank.

The vehicle will also be equipped with a compact Active Protection System (APS) designed to intercept incoming projectiles. A similar APS unit was integrated into a 30 mm gun turret variant of the same platform.

At the ADEX exhibition, the company presented only a scale model but was still able to demonstrate the intended firepower for the future platform that will join Hanwha’s Tigon armored vehicle family.

According to the company, the Tigon series was designed to serve as a modular, highly mobile combat platform adaptable to a variety of mission requirements.

By integrating heavier weapon systems onto a wheeled base, Hanwha aims to provide firepower normally reserved for tracked vehicles while maintaining the mobility advantages of an 8×8.
