An skydiver performed an impressive feat by jumping from a plane at 1,500 meters and landing directly on a jet ski in open water.

The stunt was performed by American skydiver Luke Aikins for Red Bull. Aikins has held the world record for the highest jump without a parachute for several years, after jumping from a plane at 7,600 meters and landing safely on a net.

This time, Aikins decided to push his limits even further. In a video detailing the behind-the-scenes of his latest feat, the skydiver explained the main challenges encountered along the way.

“It wasn’t easy. The first step was to find a plane large enough to hold two jet skis. We built a rail system with wheels [so it could be pushed out of the plane with minimal rolling resistance],” Aikins began.

“We placed a parachute on the jet ski, securing it with some straps. We attached a five-meter static line to the parachute so that, when it exits the door, it doesn’t deploy too early or too late. And we needed them to land in the right spot, so we had to wait for the green light before pushing the jet skis out.”

After overcoming these challenges, Aikins boarded the plane and began the ascent. Midway through the clip, the team captured the moment the jet skis were pushed out of the aircraft before Aikins jumped along with another skydiver.

The next few seconds show the breathtaking journey of the skydivers until the moment they successfully landed on the jet skis, already positioned in open water. “Crazy view,” Aikins wrote in the caption of the clip posted on his Instagram profile.
