US signs $10.8 billion contract for production of CH-53K King Stallion helicopters
Stratford, Connecticut – September 26, 2025 – Sikorsky, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, has signed a $10.855 billion contract with the United States Navy for the production of up to 99 CH-53K King Stallion helicopters over five years. The agreement represents the largest order ever placed for this model and calls for deliveries between 2029 and 2034.
The order, which covers five aircraft lots (9 to 13), aims to ensure price predictability, supply chain stability, and the maintenance of thousands of jobs at Sikorsky and among 267 suppliers spread across 37 U.S. states, as well as international partners in eight countries.
Currently, Sikorsky has already delivered 20 units to the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC). Another 63 aircraft are in various stages of assembly. The contract also opens the possibility of supply to foreign military customers.
According to the official program, the USMC plans to incorporate 200 CH-53K aircraft into its fleet. The transition from the current CH-53E to the new generation is underway, with units already operating in test, training, and one frontline squadron.

The CH-53K King Stallion is the most advanced heavy-lift transport helicopter in service in the U.S., designed to move troops, equipment, and supplies in combat environments while maintaining a high level of performance, reliability, and survivability.
The program received authorization for full-rate production in December 2022.
