Men Exchange Punches on Southwest Airlines Flight Midair.
Two passengers on Southwest Airlines flight 1288 turned to violence an hour after takeoff. According to information from the airline to the ‘Hawaii News Now’ newspaper, the aircraft departed from Oakland to Lihue Airport on the island of Kauai, Hawaii, on Monday (12).
Passenger Jim Wieder, in an interview with ‘Hawaii News Now’, said he was “a little nervous because we’re at 35,000 feet and you have two guys assaulting each other, which makes no sense.” The reason for the fight is still unclear.
In the video that went viral on social media, a man wearing a baseball cap throws a series of punches at another man sitting in one of the plane’s seats.
Even after being restrained, the man with the cap continued to yell at the other passenger.
A Southwest Airlines official said in a statement to Hawaii News Now, “We commend our crew and customers for their professionalism in [disarming] this situation.” The flight continued without incident, and both men were detained after the aircraft landed.
