The new Segway Xyber is causing confusion about what it really is: an electric bike or a motorcycle.

Officially classified as an e-bike, its robust look and motorcycle-inspired components — like the BMW-style headlight, dirt bike frame, sports suspension, and wide tires — make many confuse it with a compact electric motorcycle. The design clearly mixes both worlds, challenging the boundaries between bike and motorcycle.

The Xyber is equipped with a 6,000-watt motor, capable of reaching up to 56 km/h, which is quite fast for an e-bike. Although it has pedals, the visual and mechanical setup is much more reminiscent of a motorcycle than a traditional bike.

Segway classifies the model as a “lightweight medium-range electric vehicle” (LEV), and it also features an 11.4 cm suspension travel, rugged tires, and a comfortable seat, suggesting a firm and stable ride.

Priced around $3,000, the Xyber is close to the price of some electric motorcycles, further adding to the confusion about its identity.
