The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is about to enter its second generation, nearly nine years after its original debut.

The Italian brand has shared images of a camouflaged prototype, which will be tested in extreme weather conditions in Sweden.

The new model will abandon the Giorgio platform in favor of the STLA Large architecture, already used by other Stellantis vehicles such as the Dodge Charger. The STLA Large platform was designed for larger vehicles, suggesting that the second-generation Stelvio will be slightly bigger than the current version.

The prototype reveals visible design changes, such as flush door handles and a more sloped rear. At the front, the camouflage shows an upper LED strip and split headlights, while the rear may conceal triangular taillights. Additionally, the lack of exhaust tips and the presence of a high-voltage warning sticker indicate that this model could be fully electric.

The camouflage also hides details like the shape of the wheels, suggesting that Alfa Romeo may update its iconic Teledial wheel design.

The new Stelvio will be officially revealed at the end of this year, but sales won’t begin until 2026, coinciding with the launch of the second-generation Giulia. Although the prototype is an SUV, Alfa Romeo is also planning updates to the Giulia, which may feature increased ground clearance — although not as high as the Stelvio’s.
