A Ferrari F2001, driven by Michael Schumacher during the 2001 Monaco Grand Prix, was auctioned by Sotheby’s for USD 18.06 million, reaching the highest amount ever paid for a car driven by the seven-time champion.

The model also competed in the Hungarian GP that same year and surpassed the previous record held by a 2003 Ferrari sold for USD 13.16 million. With this amount, the car now ranks fourth among the most expensive Formula 1 vehicles ever auctioned.

Sotheby’s highlighted the car’s importance, stating it was key to Schumacher’s and Ferrari’s dominance in the early 2000s. With significant victories and two world titles associated with chassis 211, the model is considered one of the most relevant of the modern Formula 1 era.
