Saronic Technologies announced a partnership with the technology company NVIDIA to accelerate the development processes of autonomous maritime systems and shipbuilding with AI.

According to a report by Defence Blog, the partnership was announced last Friday (24) in a company statement that described the joint efforts to integrate NVIDIA‘s advanced AI tools and computing platforms into Saronic‘s naval technologies.

“By combining Saronic‘s deep expertise in maritime autonomy and cutting-edge shipbuilding with NVIDIA‘s world-class AI and computing resources, we are simultaneously developing the world’s most capable and resilient maritime systems and building the industrial engine to produce them at scale and pace,” said Dino Mavrookas, co-founder and CEO of Saronic.

According to Saronic, all of its current autonomous surface vessels already incorporate NVIDIA hardware, enabling onboard processing of computer vision algorithms and real-time decision-making, even in environments with no constant connectivity.

Also, according to Saronic, the collaboration allows the company to significantly reduce its development timelines, suggesting that “tasks that previously took days can now be completed in hours.”

In addition to the autonomy of the vessels, the companies have outlined a shared ambition to modernize U.S. shipbuilding, leveraging artificial intelligence and automation.

As noted in the announcement, Saronic plans to use NVIDIA‘s simulation resources and virtual installation platforms to modernize the U.S. shipbuilding ecosystem.
