Saab has been selected to lead the development of a new NATO underwater operations network, called the Allied Underwater Battlespace Mission Network (AUWB-MN).

The project, led by the MANGROVE consortium, began in September 2025 and aims to create a reference architecture and a test environment that allows secure and agile integration of both manned and unmanned maritime systems.

The initiative is part of the Digital Ocean program and the Antisubmarine Warfare Barrier, involving 12 sponsoring countries, led by the United Kingdom and including participation from nations such as the United States, Sweden, Germany, and Australia. According to Saab, the project is expected to set a new standard for underwater operations, strengthening collective defense capabilities in an increasingly strategic sector.

According to NATO, the project represents an advancement in modernizing submarine warfare capabilities and in allied cooperation. In addition to Saab, the consortium includes companies such as CETENA, IDS, FlySight, GraalTech, and BlueBear, as well as the University of Plymouth, all of which will contribute to the technological and operational development of the network.
