Saab has launched the ORP Henryk Zygalski, Poland’s second SIGINT (Signals Intelligence) ship, last Wednesday (14) in Gdańsk, Poland.
According to the company, the contracting and launch of the SIGINT vessel is part of Poland’s DELFIN program. The first ship, named ORP Jerzy Różycki, was launched on July 1, 2025.
Before entering service, both ships will be equipped with the necessary reconnaissance systems and undergo sea trials.
The ship-based electronic intelligence systems will allow the collection of intelligence data across the full spectrum of maritime electronic intelligence as part of their SIGINT role.
“We are pleased to see the second Polish SIGINT ship successfully launched today,” said Mats Wicksell, Head of Business Area at Saab.
“With this important project, we are strengthening cooperation between the Swedish and Polish industries in support of European security in the Baltic Sea region.”
Saab is the main contractor for building the ships under the DELFIN program, with participation from Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. as a subcontractor and the Polish company MMC, which supports Saab in design work.
Saab is fully responsible for supplying and integrating the advanced mission systems. Other entities within the Polish defense industry are also involved in implementing the project.
Once the next phase of onboard installation and sea trials is completed, the ships are scheduled for delivery in 2027 and 2028.
