The Marshal Ustinov, a Russian warship equipped with guided missiles, conducted live-fire drills just 30 kilometers from the Norwegian border.
According to reports, the vessel from Russia’s Northern Fleet carried out artillery strikes and simulated combat exercises on the Rybachii Peninsula, near the Barents Sea.
The drills, announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense, included live firing of the ship’s dual-barrel AK-130 main gun at coastal targets.
They also involved missile combat and artillery exercises against unmanned surface vessels. According to Russian authorities, all targets were successfully hit.
The warship is also expected to conduct additional anti-submarine, anti-aircraft, and anti-drone training in the coming days. However, the proximity of the exercises—held just 20 km from Norway’s maritime borders—has raised concern among experts.
