A Russian drone of the Orlan-10 model was found on the morning of Tuesday (12) at Harmani Beach in Sozopol, on the Bulgarian coast.
Beachgoers who spotted the device called the emergency number, prompting police to cordon off the area until a Navy team specialized in explosive disposal arrived.
Although the Bulgarian Ministry of Defense classified the object as an “unidentified drone,” released images confirm it is an Orlan-10, an unmanned aerial vehicle used by the Russian military in the war against Ukraine. According to the military, visible damage and the condition of the fuselage indicate the device had been submerged for several months.
The drone was destroyed at 11:20 a.m. local time after inspection by the team of experts. This is the second recent record of an Orlan-10 found outside combat zones; in February, a similar model was located near an oil pipeline in Kazakhstan.
