A Russian kamikaze drone Geran-2 (Shahed-136) crashed in Kazakhstan, specifically in the Taskalinsk district of the West Kazakhstan region, near the Russian border.

The drone, identified with the tail number “Ы18358,” sustained no visible damage and did not detonate its warhead, suggesting that it may have run out of fuel, resulting in an uncontrolled flight until landing.

The drone’s fuselage displays symbols, including the letter “Z,” indicating its use in operations against Ukraine. The trajectory deviation could have been caused by a technical failure or interference from electronic warfare systems.

According to Ukrainian sources, Russian drones were launched in multiple directions, including Bryansk, Oryol, and Kursk, on the night of March 18–19. The Geran-2 apparently traveled approximately 700 to 1,000 kilometers across Russian and Kazakh territory, raising the possibility that its presence in Kazakhstan could be a deliberate provocation.

Furthermore, in February, a Russian reconnaissance drone Orlan-10 was spotted near a pipeline facility in Kazakhstan. Russian media attempted to conceal the drone’s origin, claiming it was a French UAV, even though such equipment is not used by the Kazakh Armed Forces.

The presence of the drone in an area so far from the frontline raises suspicions that it may be related to a possible provocation.
