The Russian Federation carried out another massive missile attack against Ukraine on Saturday morning, striking, among other targets, the capital Kyiv.

In light of the deteriorating situation, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces responded preventively by raising the level of military readiness and temporarily suspending operations at two airports in the country.

In an official statement, the Operational Command said that, due to the activity of Russian long-range aviation involved in attacks on Ukrainian territory, Polish military aviation began operating in national airspace. In accordance with established procedures, the necessary assets were mobilized, including the scrambling of fighter jets and the activation of ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems.

According to the Command, the measures adopted were preventive in nature and aimed at protecting Polish airspace, especially in areas close to regions considered at risk. Military authorities also stressed that the situation was continuously monitored and that subordinate forces remained ready for an immediate response, if required.
As part of these actions, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency announced the temporary suspension of civil operations at the airports of Rzeszów and Lublin, in order to ensure full freedom of operation for military aviation during the alert period.

Shortly afterward, the Operational Command confirmed the end of the air operation. According to the statement, the activity of Polish and allied aviation in the country’s airspace was concluded, and air defense and radar surveillance systems returned to standard operational status. Authorities emphasized that no violation of the airspace of the Republic of Poland was recorded.

The statement also thanked allied support, including NATO and NATO Air Command, as well as the air forces of the United States, Spain, and the Armed Forces of the Netherlands, which contributed aircraft and air defense systems to ensure the security of Polish skies.

According to the Operational Command, the Polish Armed Forces continue to closely monitor the situation on Ukrainian territory as part of Operation Wschodnia Zorza and remain in a state of permanent readiness to ensure the integrity of national airspace.
