Russia has begun the operational use of a new disposable jet-powered attack drone, which had not been observed previously in the conflict.
Images released by a Russian military unit show the system striking a Ukrainian HIMARS launcher, in one of the first confirmed instances of this equipment in combat.
According to the published footage, a reconnaissance drone identified the target and relayed the coordinates to the new attack vector. The video captures the high-speed approach of an arrow-shaped fuselage, controlled in a first-person view, culminating in a direct impact with the Ukrainian system, indicating high precision even against moving targets.
The drone features swept wings, a compact jet engine, and a guidance system compatible with FPV operation. According to the Russian unit, the aircraft was able to chase a moving target, a performance typically associated with more expensive guided munitions. As of now, there is no official information about the manufacturer, model designation, or production scale.
The introduction of this drone suggests a more economical alternative to the ballistic missiles previously used by Russia to strike time-sensitive, mobile targets. Despite the lack of detailed technical data, its combat use confirms that Moscow continues to test and expand the use of high-speed unmanned platforms on the battlefield.
