Russia has introduced the Supercam S180 reconnaissance drone, announcing that the platform now comes with a factory-installed “anti-FPV” system.

According to reports from TASS and Ukrainian channels, this is the second version of the model featuring evasion capability, proposed by the Russian government as a way to increase mission survivability on the front line.

Despite the claims, analysts say the results remain unconvincing. Ukrainian FPV drones continue to shoot down the Supercam S180, including recent footage attributed to the 47th Mechanized Brigade. Experts point out that the evasion system lacks independent validation and that Russian algorithms remain inferior to those of Ukrainian anti-air FPVs, which are faster and more maneuverable.

To compensate for these shortcomings, Moscow is betting on mass production and the parallel development of alternatives by several companies. Even so, analysts classify the S180 as just another “paper upgrade,” noting that cheap platforms tend to be unstable and easily intercepted, as recently occurred with the Prince Oleg, the Prophetic drone, which reportedly failed during a reconnaissance mission over Lyman.
