Rostec, Russia’s defense conglomerate, unveiled the R-SAVER-1, its new unmanned maritime system, during the World Defense Show 2026 in Riyadh.

According to a report by Defence Blog, the R-SAVER-1 is being publicly displayed for the first time at the international defense and security exhibition, which began on February 8 in the capital of Saudi Arabia.

According to Rostec, the system is an unmanned robotic maritime rescue solution intended for emergency response operations at sea. Its main feature is rapid response capability without the need for a crew onboard.

The R-SAVER-1 was designed to quickly deliver rescue equipment and specialized gear to maritime emergency sites, including vessels in distress and offshore oil and gas facilities.

The vessel can transport cargo over distances of up to 800 kilometers at speeds of 50 kilometers per hour, with a maximum payload capacity of 600 kilograms, according to Rostec.

Rostec has framed the R-SAVER-1 as a civilian rescue system, but the announcement aligns with broader Russian efforts to market unmanned maritime platforms amid growing global interest in naval drones.

For now, the company has not disclosed additional information regarding production timelines or confirmed customers, nor has it specified the communications architecture used by the system or how command and control are maintained over long distances.
