The Russian Ministry of Defense has published a video showing joint training by crews of the BMPT Terminator and the T-80BVM main battle tank.

The activities involve personnel from the 6th Guards Tank Regiment, part of the 90th Guards Tank Division of the “Center” Group of Forces, at a training range.

According to the information released, the crews are preparing to carry out combat missions, with a focus on the integrated employment of the BMPT as a tank support vehicle. Troops train tactics aimed at destroying fortified positions, armored vehicles, and enemy forces, enhancing the protection and effectiveness of armored units in complex operations.

During the exercise, teams practice weapons loading procedures, rapid movement into firing positions, and engaging targets at distances of up to 4,000 meters. The training also includes coordination between the BMPT and the T-80BVM, simulating combat scenarios that require rapid response and a high volume of fire.

BMPT Terminator

The BMPT Terminator was developed to operate alongside main battle tanks, especially in urban environments and difficult terrain, where tanks face increased vulnerability to anti-tank threats. The vehicle is designed to neutralize infantry equipped with RPGs, fortified positions, and light targets, increasing the survivability of armored forces through rapid and diversified fire.

Among its main features are two 30 mm 2A42 automatic cannons, a 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun, and guided anti-tank missiles, along with heavy armor based on the T-72/T-90 chassis with reactive protection. Depending on the variant, the crew consists of three to five personnel, supported by optronic systems for day and night engagement of multiple targets.
According to Russian doctrine, the BMPT is employed to accompany tanks on the front line, covering sectors that the MBT’s main gun cannot engage effectively, particularly in urban combat, forested areas, and mountainous regions.
