Russian forces have started using shipping containers as improvised protection on tanks, according to images released by the Region 22 channel on Telegram.

The vehicles, possibly T-80BVM models, appear with large metal structures installed directly on the chassis, enhancing improvised solutions already observed previously in the conflict.

The containers were adapted with front cutouts to allow use of the main gun and covered with metal mesh on top, apparently to reduce vulnerability to drone attacks.

The rear, however, did not receive significant modifications, while improvised side openings were created for exhaust system gas release.

Experts note that the effectiveness of this type of protection is limited, as standard containers have thin walls, between 1.5 and 2 millimeters, made of non-ballistic steel. Additionally, the tank hull remains exposed, and there are no signs of electronic warfare systems attached to the structures, which raises doubts about the actual protection gain on the battlefield.
