Based in Rhode Island, New York, the startup Regent Craft carried out its first successful test with the Regent Viceroy Seaglider.
Seagliders are a new type of vessel that combines the high speed of an aircraft with the convenience of a boat. Based on proven real-world technology, seagliders operate exclusively on the water with their hull, hydrofoils, or wings.
The vehicle can transport 12 passengers and two crew members, or a payload of more than one and a half tons, with a flight range of up to 300 km, cruising at a speed of 300 km/h.
The Viceroy Seaglider uses the “wing-in-ground effect,” which reduces aerodynamic drag by flying at a very low height above the water surface with greater efficiency, able to fly between 9 and 18 meters above the water.

Regent Craft has received authorization from the U.S. Coast Guard to test full-scale prototypes of the glider, which is 16.75 meters long and has a wingspan of 19.8 meters.
The startup has already received over $9 billion in orders from customers worldwide. Regent Craft is also partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps to use the vehicles for defense and maritime logistics.
