Carlos Fernández Vecín, Spanish rally driver, died after losing his balance and plunging 300 meters down a steep trail in Spain.
Vecín, 45, was found by a hiker on a trail in the Gradura area, in Teverga, northern Spain, last Sunday (16).
He was still alive when the rescue team arrived by helicopter. However, he did not survive his injuries and died en route to the Central University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA).
The Escuderia Team Repauto, for which he raced, announced that it will pay tribute to Vecín on December 21, during the Race of Champions in Ponferrada.
“Thank you for all the great moments you gave us, teammate. We will never forget you. Today, another star shines in the sky. Rest in peace, Carlos,” wrote Repauto in an Instagram post.
