Porsche is being widely praised for not resorting to artificial intelligence (AI) in the production of its new special Christmas commercial.

The commercial, The Coded Love Letter, released on social media, features a hand-crafted 3D animation by Parallel Studio that shows a classic red 1963 Porsche driving through the different seasons of the year, from autumn to winter.

Throughout the period depicted in the commercial, we can see how the driver collected and added various stickers to the vehicle, documenting the car’s long-term use.

The commercial also includes several “easter eggs” highlighting the history of Porsche design and racing, such as the brand’s first license plate with the famous Pink Pig livery.

But above all, internet users are praising the brand’s decision not to rely on AI to produce the ad. “See how animation can be beautiful when made by humans and not by a computer trying to imitate it,” argued one user on X (formerly Twitter).

“I hate that I have to praise companies for hiring people to do their jobs instead of just typing words into an LLM (Large Language Model), but still, thank you, Porsche,” wrote another.

“All these different companies saw the terrible backlash to Coca-Cola’s AI Christmas ad and the cringe McDonald’s commercial in the Netherlands and wisely learned the lesson. Exactly as I predicted two years ago, ‘no AI’ is now a selling point,” reflected a third internet user.
