Police pursuit of Audi A3 at over 240 km/h leads to collision with child in Greater Manchester

Driver of Audi A3 drives with a three-year-old child at 240 km/h and collides with a lamppost in Greater Manchester during a police pursuit last Tuesday (14).

A driver was behind the wheel of an Audi A3 with a child in the passenger seat and a dog when it collided at over 240 km/h into a lamppost during a police pursuit in Greater Manchester, UK.

The driver of the car and the passenger were detained on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for the police, and possession with intent to supply drugs. The three-year-old child and the dog were taken into police protection, according to Greater Manchester Police.

Inspector Richard Shelton said that “the speeds reached are completely unacceptable” and that the driver’s actions “put a child’s life at risk”.

The police report states that the pursuit began at night in Rochdale, heading towards Whitworth and then back to Rochdale. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered drug possession.
