A National Police helicopter from Colombia crashed last Thursday (21) after being hit by a drone during an operation in the rural area of Amalfi, Antioquia.
The aircraft, a Black Hawk model, was carrying officers involved in the manual eradication of coca plantations in the region.
According to local authorities, 12 police officers died and five others were injured in the attack. Rescue teams remain on-site searching for survivors and removing the victims.
The Governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, stated that the attack was carried out by the 36th Front of the Central General Staff, a faction linked to the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).
Security forces continue operations to investigate the incident and capture those responsible.
