Poland has received the Mk44 Stretch Bushmaster guns from the United States, intended for the new Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles.

Manufactured by the American company Northrop Grumman, these guns also equip the Rosomak vehicles currently operating in Ukraine. The company provides annual maintenance, trains personnel, and supplies spare parts to keep the Polish fleet operational.

The Mk44 Stretch guns, capable of firing 30×173 mm ammunition with the option to upgrade to 40 mm rounds, are installed on the ZSSW-30 combat modules, remotely controlled turrets developed for the Borsuk. In addition to the weapons, Poland has also ordered Allison 3040 MX transmissions for the vehicles.

The Borsuk, weighing 28 tons with a top speed of 65 km/h, features a MTU 8V-199-TE20 diesel engine with 720 hp and a front layout with compartments for the engine, transmission, and command. The basic version houses a crew of three and space for six soldiers.

Over a hundred units have been ordered, with serial production expected to replace the old BMP-1, some of which have already been delivered to the Ukrainian army.
