Pol Tarres, known for his impressive feats in motorcycling, such as competing in the Erzbergrodeo with his Yamaha Tenere 700 and setting altitude records, suffered the worst accident of his career.

The incident occurred during the Africa Eco Race at the 111th kilometer on the second day of competition. After the impact, Tarres was found unconscious for about 5 to 8 minutes by another competitor, Guillaume Borne, who immediately called for help.

In a social media post, Tarres reported that he doesn’t remember the accident and emphasized the severity of the impact, which mainly affected his head and neck. He suffered bruises on his leg and fractured ribs, being rescued by a medical helicopter. Despite his injuries, the rider expressed gratitude for being alive and receiving messages of support.

Accidents in competitions like this can be fatal, as shown in the 2024 Dakar Rally when Carles Falcón lost his life after a serious accident. Although Tarres recovered from the initial injuries, the accident forced him to abandon the race.
