The United States has approved a military sale to Norway estimated at $370.9 million, involving 300 AIM-9X Block II Sidewinder tactical missiles and other related equipment.

The deal also includes training missiles, guidance units, software, spare parts, technical and logistical support, as well as training for Norwegian personnel.

According to the US State Department, the sale aims to strengthen the security of Norway, a NATO ally, and contribute to political stability and economic progress in Europe.

The acquisition also seeks to enhance the country’s defense capability against current and future threats, while promoting integration among the air forces of Norway, the US, and other alliance members.

The supplier responsible for the delivery will be RTX Corporation, based in Arizona. No offset agreements have been defined yet, and the impact on regional military balance or US defense readiness is considered negligible.

Six representatives, including US government officials and contractor staff, will be temporarily deployed to Norway to provide technical support for the program’s implementation.
