Norway will allocate approximately 1.2 billion Norwegian kroner to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense by purchasing equipment from the United States through the JUMPSTART program.
The information was made public by the Norwegian government and announced by Norway’s Minister of Defense, Tore Sandvik, during a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Ramstein format.

Investment in Air Defense and Military Support
This funding is part of the total budget of 22.5 billion kroner that Norway will allocate for military support to Ukraine in 2025 through the Nansen Program.
“Europe must do more for Ukraine, and Norway is committed to this. Air defense is Ukraine’s top military priority and is essential for protecting its military and civilian infrastructure, as well as its population,” said Sandvik.
The minister also noted that in 2024, Norway provided over 6 billion kroner in air defense systems to Ukraine.
Norway Joins International Drone Coalition
In addition to its investment in air defense, Norway has announced its official membership in the international drone coalition for Ukraine.
“Ukraine urgently needs additional military equipment to defend itself against Russia’s war of aggression. Drones and unmanned technologies are crucial both for protecting critical infrastructure and for use on the front lines,” Sandvik emphasized.
Recently, Norway contributed 700 million kroner to a multinational initiative for purchasing drones for Ukraine, and in 2025, part of the Nansen Program’s funds will also be used for the acquisition of drones and autonomous defense technologies.
