Nissan has unveiled the fourth generation of the Elgrand, its luxury minivan aimed at the Japanese market.
According to the website Motor1, the model arrives after 15 years without a complete redesign and debuts with an entirely revamped appearance, new hybrid technology, and a cabin focused on passenger comfort.
The main new feature is the adoption of the third generation of the e-Power hybrid system, which replaces the previous four- and six-cylinder engines.
The system uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine solely as a generator to supply power to the electric motors responsible for driving the wheels.
The minivan also features the e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system, which distributes power between the axles to improve stability and comfort.
Inside, the Elgrand adopts a premium approach to compete with models such as the Toyota Alphard.
The top-of-the-range version offers individual rear Zero Gravity seats with reclining functions and leg rests, along with two 14.3-inch screens for the front occupants, a 22-speaker Bose audio system, 64-color ambient lighting, finishes inspired by Kumiko woodwork, and semi-autonomous driving features.
The design has also undergone significant changes, with a front end marked by a grille featuring geometric elements, an LED light bar, and an optional two-tone paint finish. At the rear, the model has gained a light strip extending across nearly the entire width of the vehicle, reinforcing the futuristic identity of the new generation.
The new Nissan Elgrand has a starting price of 6,897,000 yen, equivalent to approximately US$42,500. However, it will be sold exclusively in Japan, with no plans for launch in other markets.
