The new Nissan Micra has been revealed as an electric version based on the Renault 5, marking the sixth generation of the model.

With an exclusive design developed in London, the car shares its platform, powertrain, and interior with the R5, with the bodywork being the main distinguishing feature.

It will be one of four new electric models Nissan plans to launch by 2027, alongside upcoming versions of the Leaf, Juke, and a compact based on the new Twingo.

Inside, the Micra closely mirrors the Renault 5, with twin 10.1-inch screens, inherited controls, and a multimedia center featuring Google technology. The dimensions are also similar, offering limited rear space and a 326-liter trunk.

Two powertrain options will be available: one with a 40 kWh battery and a range of up to 309 km, and another with 52 kWh and up to 405 km of range, both supporting fast charging from 15% to 80% in around 30 minutes.

The Micra name brings nostalgia for many drivers, having been the first car for many people over the past four decades. After a decline in sales and the end of production in 2023, Nissan is betting on an electric repositioning while maintaining the simple and stylish essence that made the model popular.

The new Micra is expected to hit the market at the end of 2025, with prices close to those of the Renault 5, starting at USD 30,800.
