Russian Helicopters has completed the delivery of a new batch of multifunctional Mi-8MTV-1 helicopters to three Russian airlines, expanding transport accessibility in strategic regions of the country’s Far North and Far East.

The aircraft were supplied under a GTLC investment project aimed at renewing the national helicopter fleet.
Designed to operate in virtually any weather conditions, the Mi-8MTV-1 delivers reliable performance across a wide temperature range, from −50 °C to +50 °C. The helicopters can be fitted with additional 915-liter fuel tanks, significantly extending flight range—an essential factor for missions across vast territories with limited infrastructure.

The delivered helicopters are configured to carry 22 passengers and feature a modular cabin, allowing rapid conversion for aeromedical evacuation with the installation of medical modules. The aircraft can also be equipped with an external sling hook, enabling the transport of up to four tonnes of suspended cargo.
Two of the aircraft were assigned to the Barguzin carrier. Two additional units were delivered to the Arkhangelsk United Air Squadron No. 2 and to airline Alrosa, respectively. In keeping with tradition, representatives of the companies received symbolic keys during the handover ceremony.
The event was attended by Russia’s Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov, Minister of Transport Andrey Nikitin, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, and Rosaviatsia Director Dmitry Yadrov.

According to industrial group head Nikolay Kolesov, the state corporation Rostec, with the support of the Ministries of Industry and Trade and Transport, continues to ensure the supply of new aircraft to remote regions, regarded as vital for territorial development and logistical connectivity. In recent years, Russian Helicopters has delivered more than 100 aircraft to the regions solely through contracts signed with GTLC.
