BAE Systems is presenting its new generation of 40mm anti-aircraft systems, the Tridon Mk2, at the Eurosatory 2024 fair. This launch highlights the unique capability of the Tridon Mk2 to offer protection against evolving air threats.
“The Tridon Mk2 is the ideal solution for combat operations, where soldiers need a proven, highly accurate, and reliable anti-aircraft system to keep the skies clear and protect troops and infrastructure,” said Lena Gillström, President of BAE Systems Bofors. “The system’s adaptability, which can evolve as threats change, is what makes it one of the most effective anti-aircraft systems available on the market today.”
Based on the 40mm Bofors gun, with over 90 years of experience and proven in combat, the Tridon Mk2 offers cutting-edge security and protection for military forces and civilian infrastructure.
In today’s battle environment, tens of thousands of drones are shot down monthly, revealing a dangerous gap in NATO allies’ air defense capabilities. The Tridon Mk2 emerges as a solution to fill this gap. This mobile anti-aircraft system combines high precision with critical ammunition capabilities, including the Bofors 3P programmable ammunition designed to counter a wide range of air and ground threats. The system has an effective range of up to 12 km, depending on the target, selected ammunition, sensor suite, and terrain.
The modularity of the Tridon Mk2 allows it to be mounted on various platforms and operated entirely from inside the cabin. This facilitates both rapid deployment in combat and troop regrouping to avoid enemy countermeasures. Additionally, the system can be installed at strategic locations and remotely controlled from a safe distance.
Each Tridon Mk2 unit features day and night acquisition sensors and its own fire control system, making it a cost-effective solution for protecting large areas.
